Western ringtail possum
Pseudocheirus occidentalis

The number of ringtails is on the decline as urban expansion continues. They are confined to peppermint woodlands mostly, areas like around Busselton and Albany. The expansion of Busselton is removing more of its habitat and the department of Conservation and Land Management is trying to improve its conservation status.
They like older forests where there are nesting hollows in the trees, but as more old forest is felled for woodchips etc their future is reduced.
