The Uniting Church is the union of the Congregational, Methodist and Presbyterian
Churches in Australia in 1977.
In the early years of the 20th century
the three churches had entered into agreements as to which of the three
denominations would serve in some of the sparsely populated rural areas
of W.A.
The south west corner comprising of the coastal district from Busselton to Augusta became the responsibility of the Congregational Church.
The first service in the Margaret River district was conducted in Cowaramup in 1928.
The first Congregational Worship Centre (Church) in Margaret River
was erected in 1932. Our town is situated in the south west corner
of Western Australia and is in the heart of a premium wine producing district.
It is also famous for its excellent surfing and is a Mecca for surfers
all over the world.
On May 9th. 2004, a new Worship Centre located in Tingle Avenue on the eastern side of the town was dedicated . It replaced the former building which had become inadequate for the worship and missional life of the present congregation.
